Frequently Asked Questions

What are Tournament Scorecards ?
They are the actual scorecards that the golfers carry, score, sign & attest for a given event. They are signed by both the Contestant and the Marker. They are remitted to the Official Scorers Tent for posting. Each tournament scorecard is unique and is of historical significance.

Where do Tournament Scorecards come from ?
For the origin of the scorecards offered on this site, please read the Provenance tab. With respect to the ongoing supply of Tournament Scorecards, the table below lists the bodies and their policies as best as we can determine.

The Masters:
The scorecards are retained by the tournament and are not available to the public.
U.S. Open (USGA):
Currently retained for historical reasons. Prior to 1994 various caretakers had various policies (undocumented). For a brief period the scorecards were sold to the general public.
British Open (R&A):
Currently retained for historical reasons. Previous caretakers had unknown/undocumented policies but some scorecards did end up in the public domain.
PGA Championship (PGA of America):
Currently, winning scorecards are eventually presented to the Champion. The remainder are retained by the PGA of America. Previous caretakers had unknown/undocumented policies.
PGA Tour:
Declined all inquiries
We do know that prior to late 1997, there was not a stated/circulated policy for either retention or destruction. Some tournaments retained the scorecards, some were remitted to HQ where they were at various times either given away, retained or disposed of as common trash. Currently, they appear to be marketing/auctioning off some select scorecards as they periodically show up in high end auctions.
European PGA Tour:
Declined all inquiries
Asia PGA Tour:
Declined all inquiries

This obvious TREND toward retention speaks volumes.

What is the value of a Tournament Scorecard ?
As these documents are in their collectible infancy, that question remains to be answered. They are historical documents that are signed (autographed) by the greatest golfers in the sport. Golf's stature in the world is growing with many yet untapped markets. It is an international sport, so the demographics exist for ever increasing interest in golf memorabilia. If you were to use baseball cards as a comparable product, we would expect that the Tournament Scorecard of any Hall of Fame golfer will eventually approach the current values of memorabilia associated with baseball's greats. What we can hazard a guess at, is that these scorecards will never again be available at these introductory prices. Unlike most memorabilia, these items have an unlimited upside that is intricately tied to the great game of golf. Please read the Investing & Collecting tab.

How can I be assured the scorecards are authentic ?
We guarantee (100% Money Back) that our items are authentic. Assurance is provided on Matted & Framed pieces via a COA from noted independent golf expert Mr. Roger Gilchrist (read the Investing & Collecting tab). COA's on stock scorecards can be purchased for an additional $35. These will also be supplied by Mr. Roger Gilchrist.

What are your shipping costs ?
Shipping & Insurance are free in the U.S. on all Matted & Framed pieces and Stock Scorecards.
International Shipping & Insurance will incur additional costs.
